Lower Emissions Allowance / Scrappage Scheme

September 07, 2017

The new ‘Lower Emissions Allowance’ incentive that is being rolled out across the UK, offers a £2,000 discount on its greenest cars when a diesel car is traded in.

This initiative is designed to reduce the pollution caused by diesel cars, and to increase the uptake of low-emission cars within the UK. According to Whatcar.com, low-emission cars only still account for just 4.3% of the total market.

Over the past few weeks major car manufacturers such as Ford, Vauxhall, Mercedes, BMW, Skoda, Renault, Fiat, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, VW, Nissan and Kia have introduced scrappage schemes within the UK.

So what does this mean for dealerships?

Director of iDealFILE, Ritchie Kelk notes,

“From our last experience of the Government backed scrappage scheme, for many dealerships it was very difficult to administer and some struggled to get their money back due to them not following the right procedure or completing the correct forms.”

iDealFILE is positioned as a suitable solution to ensure that every step is managed efficiently. Using just one version of each document, electronic deal files are automated and delivered to individuals/parties at each stage of the cycle. It means easier traceability during the process. It also provides each recipient remote access and visibility, meaning that the process can be reviewed and checked at any time and at any place.

Digital files have to be fully completed before submission and for the continuation of the deal cycle. This means that you’ll never receive incomplete files back and can trace what particular stage you’re at with the deal files.
